  1. Attend a Parish Council Meeting and see democracy in action. You can find the date and time of the next meeting in The Village Magazine.
  2. Have a massive clear out, take unwanted items to St Peter’s Hospice shop or the recycle centre, where they will help you organise your rubbish
  3. Try bowls – contact the Bowls Club 01275 462637  for more information
  4. Work with BET (Backwell Environmental Trust) – volunteers meet every 4th Monday of the month at 10.00am by the cabin; who needs to pay for a gym with this free fresh air and exercise?
  5. Join Backwell summer walkers, who meet at the Parish Hall on Friday evenings at 7.15pm; more information from (01275) 462894 or 463289.
  6. Half term mother and toddler groups, Thursday morning, at St Andrew’s Church, or the regular toddlers group at the Baptist Church, Wednesday mornings 10.00am- 12.00, during term time.
  7. Use the computer at The Meeting Point, every Tuesday in the Parish Hall, to print off copyright-free knitting patterns, recipes or other materials.
  8. Take your children or grandchildren to play on the equipment in the park (some of it brand new) or try the grown up play equipment for yourself.
  9. Prepare your entry to the Village Show, on September 17th in 2016. This only happens once a year, but you can spend the whole year getting ready for it, by taking photographs and practicing flower arranging.
  10. Gain lots of help and advice on a wide range of issues at the Post Office.
  11. Coffee ‘n Craft on the 4th. Friday of the month.  2.00pm to 4.30pm - bring your current project to share with others
  12. Visit the Mobile Library at the carpark Rodney Road every Monday 2.00 to 3.00pm, then the Leisure Centre carpark 3.05pm to 4.00pm.
  13. Try Bell Ringing at St Andrew's. Practices Wednesday at 7.30 pm. Young Ringers (12 - 18 years) Mondays 4.00 – 5.00pm. 01275 462416 for more information
  14. If you are good at Rubber Bridge, test your ability with Duplicate at the Backwell Bridge Club (Wednesday evenings at St Andrew’s Church House, starting at 7.00pm); the first session is free. Ring 01275 855822 for more information and to book a session.
  15. Skate boarding in the park.
  16. Enjoy Messy Church at the Methodist Church 3.30-5pm every 2nd Thursday of the month. Ring 01275 464778 for more information
  17. Circumnavigate Backwell Lake and see if you can spot a kingfisher.
